Ingredients: Aachi Sambhar Powder - 100g, Red Lentils or Toor dhal - 200g, Tamarind Half tsp, mustard Oil - 2 tbsp, Onion - 1 no, Tomatoes - 2 nos, Green chilli and curry leaves, Coriander leaves, 100g cut vegetables and Salt.
Recipe: Firstly, take the rinsed red lentils in a pressure cooker Then add 800ml of water to it Pressure cook the dhal for 4 to 5 whistles Now cut one drumstick into pieces and cut 2 fresh brinjals Chop 1 medium sized onion Cut 2 medium sized tomato Now keep a pan in the stove and add 2 tbsp of oil Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds Once the mustard seeds are fried, add chopped onions and fry till golden brown color Then add 2 green chillies to it Add few curry leaves and saute for just a minute Then add the cut drumstick and brinjals to the mixture and saute for a minute Then add the tomatoes The close the lid and allow the vegetables to cook for about 4 minutes in a medium flame Now add tamarind juice Add 1 1/2 tbsp of Aachi Sambhar powder to the mixture Immediately add sufficient amount of salt Then add the cooked dhal and stir well Then cook up to 15 minutes Once the sambhar is boiled well add some coriander leaves, now your sambhar is ready to serve. You can use this sambhar with plain rice, dhosa, idly, poori, chappathi and so on.
